Special Event Celebrates 52 Years of the Camphill Movement in North America, Raises Funds for Inclusive Care of Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

Chestnut Ridge, NY, January 24, 2018 — Camphill Foundation today announced that it will hold its annual gala on May 3, 2018, at Tribeca Three Sixty° in New York.

The Annual Gala supports Camphill Foundation’s mission of growing, strengthening, and safeguarding the Camphill movement in North America. Funds raised at the Annual Gala are dedicated to Camphill Foundation’s grantmaking program, which awards more than $350,000 annually to educational programs, capacity-building initiatives, and capital needs for Camphill communities and affiliates.

Camphill communities provide an inclusive, therapeutic model of care for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. At the 16 Camphill communities and affiliates in the United States and Canada, persons with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities live together, participate in meaningful work, experience a rich artistic and cultural life, and strive to reach their fullest potential.

“Camphill Foundation was built on an abiding faith in the power of community,” said Shelley Burtt, Executive Director of Camphill Foundation. “Our Annual Gala embodies this same spirit, celebrating what has been accomplished through genuinely inclusive communities and inspiring supporters to expand their views of what can be achieved through a shared commitment to human dignity, interdependence, and meaningful work.”

The 2018 Camphill Foundation Annual Gala will be held at Tribeca Three Sixty° located at 10 Desbrosses Street, New York. It will feature a silent auction and a performance by the Heartbeet Camphill Community Choir from Heartbeet Lifesharing, a Camphill community in Hardwick, Vermont.

Tickets to the Camphill Foundation Annual Gala are available for $350. Sponsorships are available at four levels: Community Partner ($5,000), Community Sustainer ($10,000), Community Benefactor ($15,000), and Community Builder ($25,000).
